The walls are narrow pine clapboard siding over a limestone and concrete block foundation, under a standing-seam metal roof installed in the 1930s. A north-elevation window was replaced with a door, and a new stove was installed with its chimney relocated to the east end of the roof ridge, around 1910 to 1920. An entry and front stoop at the east elevation were removed around 1870. Inside, the schoolroom keeps its tongue-and-groove wainscot, pressed-metal ceiling in a fleur-de-lis pattern, and maple strip flooring.
Historical context
The district's first classes met in 1844 in the William Dibble house, and the school building served as a community center from 1946 to 1951. The Point Douglas Women's Club bought it in 1951, and Joan and Douglas Peterson bought the property in 1975. It was vacant at the time of its 2014 listing.
