George Hardy received the land grant for the site from Kamehameha IV in 1852, and A.B. Lindsay acquired two adjoining portions by deed in 1899 and 1901. The Hawaiian Evangelical Association bought the consolidated property in 1921, and by 1956 the congregation had renovated an unused plantation building for its Sunday School.
