Historical context
The Swedish Lutheran Congregation of Wilcox first met in 1875, built its church in 1881 and the present parsonage in 1901, after buying two lots from the Jefferson Brown estate in 1900 and selling an earlier parsonage bought in 1890. By 1908 the congregation numbered 680 members, and Pastor L.P. Ahlquist occupied the parsonage from 1902 to 1917. The congregation merged with Saint John's of Johnsonburg in 1967, and the parsonage passed into private ownership in 1968, held privately through 2004.
