Inside, wood columns support wood-beamed ceilings and wood floors, with a hoisting bay, a brick fire wall, iron-clad sliding fire doors and an interior stair. In 2002 the elevator and stair tower was removed, the first-story windows infilled with concrete block, and part of the mill complex demolished.

Historical context

William Beatty established Beatty's Mills in 1842, and the present building replaced the original complex in 1886, when it began producing cotton yarn exclusively. The mill operated as a cotton yarn manufacturer through 1923, becoming Robert Beatty Company, Inc. in 1913 and retaining agents in New York by 1919. It became known as Powell Mills by 1927 and stood vacant from 2000.
