The plant traced to a mill founded around 1857, reorganized as the Bethlehem Iron Company by 1863 and the Bethlehem Steel Company in 1901. The company built the Annex in 1940, using it through 1953 as a finishing mill for the Alloy and Tool Steel Division. It shifted to warehouse use by the 1960s, and after Steel sold it in 1986 it served as storage; the wider Steel operation closed in 1997 after bankruptcy.
