Petersburg Gap
Here the South Branch of the Potomac cuts through Orr's Mountain. The "Pictured Rocks," great cliffs on which appear figures of a fox and an ox or buffalo, are features. Cliffs on the south side rise to sheer height of 800 feet.
1937 text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native and Black people, and tells frontier history from the settler's side.
