John Judy and James Clark settled in vicinity in 1769. First known as Milford for Morton's Mill, built, 1792. Greenville Iron Furnace, built about 1815 by Walter Carlile, and the Valley Iron Furnace were not far away.

1937 text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native and Black people, and tells frontier history from the settler's side.
