King William County/King and Queen County

King And Queen County · dedicated 1946 · Rte. 33, at the county line

King William County Formed in 1701 from King and Queen, and named for King William III. Here lived Carter Braxton, signer of the Declaration of Independence. King and Queen County Formed in 1691 from New Kent, and named for King William III and Queen Mary. The family of George Rogers Clark long lived in this county.
