Shenandoah County · dedicated 1946 · Front Royal Road, just west of the North Fork Shenandoah River

Shenandoah County Formed in 1772 from Frederick, and first named Dunmore for Lord Dunmore, Governor of Virginia 1771-75. In 1778 the county was renamed for the Shenandoah River. Warren County Formed in 1836 from Frederick and Shenandoah, and named for General Joseph Warren, killed at Bunker Hill, 1775.
