William Wynne's Fort

Tazewell County · 2 miles east of Tazewell. · location approximate

On the hillside to the north stood Wynne's Fort. A settlement was made here as early as 1752. Some years later William Wynne obtained land here and built a neighborhood fort. After 1776 the State goverment built a fort and garrisoned it.
