Malvern Hill
A colonial dwelling of the Cocke family was here. Lafayette camped here in July-August, 1781, watching Cornwallis. Here Mc- Clellan's army retiring from Richmond was attacked by Lee on July 1, 1862. Lee did not storm the hill, but that night McClellan fell back to James River at Harrison's Landing.
