Powhatan Courthouse
The first courthouse was built about 1777. The village that grew up around it was long known as Scottsville for General Charles Scott, Revolutionary soldier, who lived in this county. A skirmish occurred here, Januray 25, 1865. Near by is a tavern of the Revolutionary period.
