First Landing

Virginia Beach County · dedicated 1936 · Rte. 60 (Shore Dr.), north of Atlantic Ave.

Near here the first permanent English settlers in North America first landed on American soil, April 26, 1607. From here they went on to make the settlement at Jamestown. The brick lighthouse was built in 1791.
