Draper's Meadow Massacre
Here a settlement was made by the Ingles and Draper families in 1748. It was attacked in July, 1755, about the time of Braddock's Defeat, by Indians, who killed or captured every person found. Colonel James Patton was among the slain. Mrs. Draper and Mrs. William Ingles were carried into captivity.
