Ingles Ferry Road
Ingles Ferry, several miles west, was the first rendezvous of Colonel William Byrd's expedition against the Cherokees, 1760. There Indians, returning from their last foray in the New River region, 1763, were attacked by William Ingles and a party of settlers.
