Fredericksburg Campaign
In this vicinity Burnside took command of the Army of the Potomac, November 7, 1862. He reorganized the army and turned it southward to the Rappahannock River at Fredericksburg. On November 19, his headquarters were near Falmouth. On December 13, the battle of Fredericksburg was fought.
