The Capleville Church of Christ was founded in 1870 at the Macedonia School. Between 1908 and 1915, Brothers Jeremiah Keys Sr., Jeremiah Keys Jr., and Marshall Keeble held a series of gospel meetings winning many converts and enlarging the congregation. Keeble was a well-known Church of Christ evangelist known for bridging the racial divide as he helped to establish or expand African American Churches of Christ across the South. In Memphis, Keeble was particularly active and assisted many churches. By 1972, due to the expansion of Shelby Drive to a four-land thoroughfare, the church relocated to its current location in the Easthaven Community, becoming Easthaven Church of Christ.
