The first Methodist church in Lawrenceburg was a log structure built at this place in 1826. After joining the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1844, a larger sanctuary was built in 1850 and then replaced in 1886. The present Gothic-Revival style brick church was dedicated in 1909 and finished in 1912. It has served as a local architectural landmark ever since. Continued - After the Methodist faith unified in 1939, the church became the First United Methodist Church, recognized as the town's oldest church. By the end of the 20th century, a modern campus of education buildings, the Rose Chapel, and a Christian Life Center strengthened the church's service to Lawrenceburg.
