Madison Napier started this blast furnace in 1836, using ore from hills at the headwaters of Beaverdam Creek. Pig-iron was shipped from the Metal Landing in Shipp's Bend of Duck River, 5 mi. N. It went bankrupt in 1848, was reorganized and operated until 1855. Resuming in 1862, it was shortly destroyed by Federals.
