Ezekiel Cloyd and John Willamson established Stoner's Creek Presbyterian Church about 1795. The congregation joined the Cumberland presbyterian Church in 1810. Members built a church and camp meeting ground with a shelter on land donated by Cloyd. This place has continued to serve as a religious site in Wilson County. In honor of Rev. Cloyd, the church changed its name to Cloyd's Cumberland Presbyterian bout 1895.

Maps this old were drawn largely by eye, so places on them can sit miles from where they really are. The pin is ours and marks the marker's location today.
