Founded 1884 by the American Missionary Assoc., this school prepared students from the hill country of East Tenn. for college entrance, Christian works, or teaching in elementary schools. Improved public schools caused Grandview to close its doors as a boarding school in 1919. Remained open as a high school for a number of years afterwards.
