Front: This cemetery dates to at least c.1900 and was established by members of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Bethlehem historically worshipped at a site north of here in Fort Mill. Tradition holds the cemetery lot was given by church trustee Handy White. It is roughly one acre in size and likely contains around 100 burials. Reverse: The cemetery mainly served African American residents of Fort Mill’s Paradise community. It was also known as the Banks Street Cemetery. It was overseen by the Bethlehem congregation as well as Jerusalem Baptist Church, which worshipped nearby on Brickyard Road. Burials no longer take place.
