Trinity Church

Front: In 1922 residents of the Converse Heights neighborhood held a series of meetings to discuss forming a new Methodist church closer to their homes. They subsequently acquired this site at the corner of Norwood St. and Fairview Ave. and formally organized in 1924 as Trinity Methodist Church. The congregation included around 90 charter members. Their first place of worship was a one-story wood frame building later known as the Trinitarian Building. Reverse: Trinity’s first church was replaced in 1938 by a brick Gothic Revival building that fronts Norwood St. At that time the church had around 300 members. The brick church was dedicated in 1944. An education wing was built on its east side in 1949. Members continued to use the Trinitarian Building for classes and community activities until it was removed from the site around 1990. The church was renovated and expanded several more times over that period.
