Good Hope Lutheran Church organized in 1839. The church was originally built .5 mile SE of here on a 3-acre site given by Abram Chapman. The first chapel was built and dedicated in 1840. The old church cemetery was .25 mile E of the original site. In 1878, congregants built a new sanctuary and cemetery on land given by Catherine Black. Though renovated, the building remains in use today.
