Georgetown County Stadium

Front: The Atlantic Coast Lumber Company acquired the land on which Georgetown County Stadium now sits in 1900. The stadium was built by 1908 and games have been played here for more than a century. Originally known as Atlantic Coast Lumber Park, the City of Georgetown purchased the site in 1943. From 1948-1951 the stadium was home to the Georgetown Athletics, a semi-pro team that competed in the Palmetto Baseball League. Reverse: In 1962 the stadium was converted to football-only use and was the home venue for both Winyah and Howard High Schools until the two were consolidated in 1982. In 1989 the facility was renamed Mike Johnson Park in honor of the long-time Georgetown High School baseball coach. Since 1991 it has been home to the International Paper Baseball Classic tournament.
