Home to nine generations of a Quaker family who were leaders in science, education, glassmaking, horticulture, and brewing. First house, 1690. 1720s house altered in 1824 by William Strickland. Rose garden designed in 1821 by Jane Bowne Haines supported over 50 rare cultivars.
