Fort Davis

Muskogee County · on OK-16, one mile north of Bacone College in Muskogee

Confederate Brigadier General Albert Pike established this post in November 1861 and named it for Confederate President Jefferson Davis, who had been stationed in the area as a lieutenant in the US Army. Fort Davis was destroyed by Union forces in December 1862.
