Within the limits of Bayonne is the site of a Revolutionary fort, erected for the defense [sp.] of Bergen Neck. Feb., 1782, an unsuccessful attack was made by Maj. Bauman against the Tory band here. The Refugees evacuated and burned the post Sept. 1, 1782.
