Battle Creek City Hall

Calhoun County · dedicated 2025 · 103 East Michigan Ave, Battle Creek

Ernest W. Arnold designed this Beaux-Arts classical city hall “to harmonize with the post office” located directly across Division Street. Seirn B. Cole Construction completed it in 1914. The building’s interior is embellished with marble wainscoting, cherry trim, and terrazzo floors. To correct an inaccurate portrayal of Indigenous history, one of the stained-glass windows in the stairwells was replaced by a modern medallion in 2019. The city hall was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
