Cited thus in McPherson's dispatches of May 17, 1864, & military maps; otherwise known as Nannie P.O., & Pinson's Store. McPherson's 15th and 16th A.C. (US) marched from near Calhoun, camped here, night, May 17, enroute to Kingston via Barnsley's. There was no direct road to Barnsley's above Hermitage, & to avoid over-extending his right, Sherman directed McPherson to detour E. from McGuire's to Adairsville. McPherson's troops constituted the right of Sherman's forces advancing on a wide front Southward, after a two-day battle at Resaca, May 14, 15.
