The Grove Park Historic District consists of two interconnected subdivisions built during the 1920s Florida Land Boom. Grove Park was established in 1921 by the Tatum Brothers, prominent Miami developers. It included nine blocks subdivided into lots for single family homes and a central linear park. The smaller Oak Terrace was laid out the same year by two couples, the Havens and the Michelsons. Grove Park was promoted as Miami's "Million Dollar Suburb," and Oak Terrace focused on its natural beauty, advertising as "Miami's Scenic Suburb." Building restrictions ensured that only wealthy people could afford to build in the area. Construction slowed during the Great Depression, but the neighborhood continued to be built out in successive waves of Miami's development until it was almost entirely completed by 1961. Through the efforts of neighborhood residents and Dade Heritage Trust, the Grove Park Historic District was created and listed in the National Register of Historic Places in December 2023. Sixty-seven residences of varying architectural styles contribute to the district. Grove Park maintains one of the highest concentrations of original Boom-time architecture in the City of Miami.
