Highball Signal

Sussex County · dedicated 1974 · 10 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Delmar

Signals of this type were used on early railroads to control train movements. When the track was clear, the station agent would hoist the ball, permitting the train to proceed. The signal is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
