Here lived Ryves Holt, Colonial Chief Justice; and four Governors, David Hall, who commanded a Delaware regiment in the Revolution, Daniel Rodney and Caleb Rodney, sons of John Rodney, and Ebe Tunnell; also Colonel Henry Fisher, Revolutionary patriot, and Dr. Jacob Jones, later Commodore, U.S.N.
