Old Feeder Canal

Excavations begun May 2, 1804, in first attempt to build a canal between Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. Feeder was intended to conduct water from Elk Creek to a ship canal to extend from Welsh Point on Elk to Mendenhall’s Landing on Christiana. Work abandoned 1805.
