In 1843 Apolinario Miranda, husband of Juana Briones de Miranda, was sent before the subprefect for not living harmoniously with his wife.... Shortly thereafter Juana and her seven children arrived at Rancho la Purísima Concepción. In 1856 this property was duly confirmed to her. Juana lived in this adobe until she was crippled by rheumatism and had to move.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
