Salvador Vallejo Adobe

Home of Captain Salvador Vallejo. He was the brother of General Mariano G. Vallejo, Sonoma's founder. Built by Indian labor, 1836-1846. Occupied by Captain Vallejo and family until Bear Flag Party seized Sonoma, June 4, 1846. Cumberland College, Presbyterian coeducational boarding school, located here 1858-1864.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
