Anza Expedition Camp

The Anza Expedition of 1776 on its way up the peninsula to locate sites for the Presidio and Mission of San Francisco camped here on March 26 at a dry watercourse a short league beyond Arroyo de San Mateo.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
