Lineal measurement—largest south branch 111 feet. Diameter of trunk eight feet from ground, nine feet. Estimated age of tree 1,000 years (1953). Allowing two feet per person, 8,000 people can stand under this tree. Hooker Oak named in 1887 by Annie E. K. Bidwell in honor of Sir Joseph Hooker, English botantist.
