This pioneer cemetery was said to be established in 1851. Most of the graves are unmarked; however, stones appear over three of the graves (in 1936). This cemetery is located almost opposite where the old town of North Branch originally stood, before the site was mined for gold.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
