Rabbit Creek Hotel Monument

In La Porte, first known as Rabbit Creek and one of the most important settlements in the southern part of Plumas County, in the fall of 1852, Eli S. Lester constructed the first house in the town and called it the Rabbit Creek Hotel.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
