Cadw's description

The following provides a general description for the scheduled monument.

The monument consists of the remains of medieval settlement and agricultural activity, comprising field systems of low earthen and stone banks, and hollow-ways or tracks. Surveys have shown the remains to be complex and probably of several phases of construction and occupation, and it may be that some of the features relate to prehistoric or Romano-British activity, and post-medieval use of the land. Some of the recorded features also relate to mineral exploitation.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric/medieval settlement and agricultural practices. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits. A field system may be part of a larger cluster of monuments and their importance can further enhanced by their group value.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
