Cadw's description

The following provides a general description of the Scheduled Monument.

The monument comprises archaeological elements of two periods: a small unenclosed settlement of the Iron Age or Romano-British period consisting of three hut circles and an oval enclosure or cairn; a rectangular hut likely to date to the medieval period.

The site has great archaeological value because of the well preserved nature of the huts. The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of later prehistoric and perhaps medieval domestic construction practices. The monument retains significant archaeological potential and there is a strong probability that structural evidence has survived, together with internal and external floor surfaces. In addition, waterlogging is likely to have resulted in the preservation of buried environmental evidence and organic materials. The close association of huts of different periods gives the site particular archaeological importance as an example of long term land use.

The scheduled area comprises the remains described and areas around them within which related evidence may be expected to survive.
