Location

Situated in terraced row to SW of former Wesleyan Chapel.

History

Terraced house, probably mid to later C19, a mirrored pair with No 2, added to the first-built No 4 and to which No 1 was added later. The ground floor window sill is slightly lower on no 3 than on No 2 due to sloping site and door is set lower again. John Powell, grocer and tailor occupied No 4, and Chapel Place is said to have been built for the Powell family in the 1870s by a relative, Samuel Lloyd of Princes Street.

Exterior

Terraced house, one side of a mirrored pair in red brick, garden-wall bond, with black brick band and nogged brick eaves. Slate roof with square brick stack with two black brick raised bands, between Nos 2 and 3.
Two storeys, one-window with outer door to each house, all with cambered brick heads and stone sills. The heads have some black bricks, the windows are 9-pane above and 12-pane below. The door has six panels and three stone steps up.
