History
Milestone on turnpike road, probably earlier stone with affixed C19 cast-iron plate, matching those on the Bishops Castle Road and Forden Road. The turnpike system in the area dates from c1768.

Milestone, sandstone, round headed with affixed round headed cast-iron plaque marked in capitals: 'Miles/ From/ London. 169/ Salop. 21 ½ / W,Pool. 7 ½ / Bps, Castle. 8 ½ / Newtown. 9'.
