Cadw's description
Location
On the east side of Pen-y-pound fronting The Drama Centre and one of the varied group of historic buildings on the main north-eastern access to Abergavenny.
History
Built in 1898 and designed by E A Johnson, railings extended north in 1904.
Exterior
Built of coursed rock-faced red sandstone rubble with yellow ashlar dressings, wrought iron gates and railings. Dwarf wall with ashlar coping supports plain spike railings. Two tall square piers with elaborately moulded heads. Short return walls with more elaborate railings that sweep up to iron gatepiers. These carry double wrought iron gates that sweep down to the centre.
Reason for designation
Included for their special interest as part of a well preserved late C19 school and for having group value with the other listed buildings in Pen-y-pound.
