Location
A terraced house on the hillside to the W of and overlooking the harbour.
History
Marine Terrace is first shown in a view of Porthmadog by C.F. Williams, dated 1849, and is mentioned by Owen Morris in 1856. The terrace is shown on the 1871 Tremadog estate plan and 1888 Ordnance Survey. In 1886 No 2 was the home of William Jones, who owned the Sail Loft on Britannia Place.
Exterior
A late Georgian style 2½-storey 3-window house of rubble stone in regular courses, large stone lintels, and slate roof with coursed stone end stacks. The central entrance has a fielded-panel door under a 2-pane margin-glazed overlight. Hornless sash windows are 12-pane in the lower storey, 16-pane in the upper storey. Two added gabled dormers have 2-light windows and slate-hung sides.
Interior
Not inspected.
Reason for designation
Listed for its special architectural interest as a well-preserved town house notable for its distinctive use of local stone and retaining definite Georgian character, part of a well-preserved C19 terrace overlooking the harbour and the Cob.
