Shown on 5 historical map sheets, the earliest the 1795 "To Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn Bart ... the map of the six counties of North Wales is most humbly inscribed by his obedient humble servant" (Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru – The National Library of Wales).
Cadw's description
Location
Form the front boundary of the terrace, and divide the front gardens.
Exterior
Probably contemporary with the houses, c1820. Cast iron, with railings in 2 tiers, each with finial: leaf finials to No 38, the rest pierced javelins. Each house has a similarly detailed gate (that to No 41 a replacement).
Forms an important part of the context of the terrace, and represents a good example of the decorative iron-work which is so prominent a feature of the townscape on Salop Road.
