Location
On elevated site above the road, immediately N of St Winefride's Voluntary Primary School; facing downhill and set on a high pedestal. Reached by stone steps from the pavement.
History
Erected in 1888; designed by C J Thomas and cast by Maurice Denonvilliers - weathered and faint French style signature
Exterior
Painted cast-iron statue of Christ with outstretched arms displaying stigmata; he stands upon an orb adorned with the symbols of the Passion. Octagonal rubble pedestal with dressed stone cap and platform.
Reason for designation
Listed as an unusual example of cast-iron statuary and for its contribution to the strong Catholic associations at Holywell.
