Cadw's description
Location
Situated on E side of Chapel Road about 1 km NE of junction with B4329.
History
Single-storey cottage, possibly early C19, possibly rebuilt in C19. Marked on 1842 tithe map as a cottage on the estate of John Thomas of Crundale, and sold in 1896 with the Crundale estate. It was then occupied by Samuel Smith and was sold as house, garden and workshop with 35 acres (14.17 hectares). In 1842 the fields nearby were named Fiddler's Hall but there was another group of fields so-named in the N of the parish near Morgans Park Farm.
Exterior
House, rubble stone with slate eaves roof and small red brick end stacks. One storey and loft, double-fronted with 12-pane horned sash each side of door, all with red brick heads. slate sills, C20 door. End walls have hornless 12-pane sash to loft with slate lintel. C20 rear 2-storey addition.
Interior
Not inspected.
Reason for designation
Included for its special interest as an example of a single-storey rural cottage, a type increasingly rare.
