Cadw's description

In the garden outside Whitchurch Library.

Erection date uncertain, but probably early 1920s.

Granite obelisk on a plinth and standing on five square diminishing granite steps. The obelisk carries on the front an inscription 'IN PROUD & HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN OF WHITCHURCH WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919 SEMPER FIDELIS 1030-1945', and on the sides and rear the names of the fallen. The obelisk is surmounted by the bronze figure of an infantryman standing with reversed arms.
